Frequently Asked Questions

Are there campgrounds on both Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley?

Yes. Campgrounds can be found around both lakes, from larger developed parks to smaller, quieter places tucked along the shoreline. The best fit depends on whether you want full amenities, easy lake access or a more relaxed setting.

Yes. Land Between the Lakes has several campgrounds operated by the U.S. Forest Service, including developed campgrounds and more primitive camping areas. There are no privately operated campgrounds inside LBL.

Some do. You will find campgrounds with water, electric and sewer hookups, along with others that offer electric-only sites or more basic camping. Check each campground’s amenities before choosing your site.

Many campgrounds around Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley make it easy to get on the water. Depending on the property, you may find a boat ramp, shoreline access, a fishing area or space to park a boat and trailer.

Yes. The area has options for RVs, travel trailers and tents, though not every campground offers all three. Some are built around full-service RV camping, while others are better suited for a simpler stay under the trees.
