KentuckyLake.com has been helping visitors discover Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, and the surrounding region since 1996.
Today, the site is owned and operated by Explorations Media Group, LLC, a Murray, Kentucky-based company dedicated to promoting tourism, recreation, and local businesses throughout the Kentucky Lakes Area.
What many visitors may not realize is that KentuckyLake.com was one of the first online resources dedicated entirely to Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley.
Back in 1996, information about the lakes was difficult to find on the internet. As more travelers began using the World Wide Web to research vacations, fishing trips, boating destinations, and weekend getaways, Kentucky Lake had little to no online presence.
Recognizing the opportunity, Kentucky Lake natives Mark and Kathy Wood launched KentuckyLake.com to help showcase the region they loved. Working alongside local businesses, resorts, marinas, guides, and tourism partners, they built a resource that connected visitors with everything the lakes had to offer.
Over time, KentuckyLake.com grew into one of the most recognized tourism websites in western Kentucky, helping introduce generations of visitors to the area’s fishing, boating, lodging, dining, and outdoor recreation opportunities.
In 2003, the Woods purchased Moors Resort & Marina and shifted their focus toward operating the marina. KentuckyLake.com changed ownership in 2004 and again in 2008 before being acquired by Explorations Media Group on October 10, 2019.
For Explorations Media Group, the acquisition represented more than the purchase of a website. It was an opportunity to continue a mission that began decades earlier: helping people discover and enjoy one of the most unique outdoor destinations in the Midwest.
Today, KentuckyLake.com works alongside Explore Kentucky Lake, Land Between The Lakes, KentuckyLakeRentals.com, LakeBarkleyRentals.com, and other regional resources to promote tourism, support local businesses, and provide visitors with accurate, helpful information about the Kentucky Lakes Area.
Our goal is simple: help visitors make the most of their time on Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, and throughout the Kentucky Lakes Area.
