Rockin' U Riding Stables at Wrangler's Campground
Land Between the Lakes offers miles of hiking and biking trails, but horseback riders have an entire corner of the recreation area designed just for them.
Wrangler’s Campground is the only campground in Land Between the Lakes created specifically for visitors traveling with horses. From here, riders can access an extensive network of trails that wind through forests, rolling hills, historic sites, and the shoreline of Lake Barkley. It’s a destination where both horses and riders can spend days exploring without riding the same trail twice.
Even if you don’t own a horse, you can still experience the trails. Horses are available to rent at Wrangler’s Campground, and several local stables near Kentucky Lake also offer guided horseback riding experiences.
Unlike many multi-use trails, the Wrangler’s Camp trail system was built with horseback riders in mind.
The trails travel through some of the most scenic landscapes in southern Land Between the Lakes, passing hardwood forests, open hillsides, quiet creek bottoms, and stretches overlooking Lake Barkley. Along the way, riders experience the peaceful side of LBL that’s difficult to reach by car.

History also becomes part of the ride. The remains of Laura Furnace provide a reminder that this peaceful landscape was once home to one of the region’s early iron producers more than a century ago.
