About Cedar Ridge Guide Service

Ross Wimberly’s connection to fishing began along the Tennessee River, where childhood Saturdays were often spent chasing bluegill from a small jon boat with his father. That early experience grew into a lifelong interest and eventually led him to begin helping another local fishing guide.

Today, Ross operates Cedar Ridge Guide Service near Buchanan, Tennessee. He guides for bass and crappie throughout the year, then adds bluegill and redear trips during May and June. His approach is relaxed and straightforward, making the trip suitable for anglers who want to spend time fishing without turning the day into a serious production.

Fishing equipment is provided, and Ross also cleans the day’s catch. Guests should bring a valid Tennessee fishing license, food and drinks, and clothing suited to the weather. A cooler is available aboard the boat, and Ross provides a detailed forecast in the days leading up to the trip so guests can prepare for conditions.

The range of species gives anglers different options across the calendar. Bass and crappie remain available through the year, while late spring and early summer bring the added opportunity to focus on bluegill and redear. Ross takes a practical approach to planning each outing around the season and the fish being targeted. For visitors staying around the southern portion of Kentucky Lake, Cedar Ridge offers a guided trip with the basic equipment and end-of-day fish cleaning already handled.
