About Steve McCadams Guide Service
Steve McCadams has worked as a professional fishing and waterfowl guide since 1972, building much of his career around Kentucky Lake near Paris, Tennessee. His fishing trips include bass, crappie and bluegill, with the season and lake conditions helping determine the focus of the day.
Along with guiding, Steve has spent decades writing and speaking about the outdoors. He is co-author of “Crappie Wisdom” and has contributed to numerous outdoor publications. His television work has included hosting and appearing on national programs. In 2017, he was inducted into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame.
Steve also writes regular Kentucky Lake fishing reports for Explore Kentucky Lake, our sister site. Those reports cover the stretch from Paris Landing to New Johnsonville and track water levels, temperature, current, seasonal fish movement and productive methods. The reports give visiting anglers a practical look at conditions before they arrive and reflect the day-to-day observations that come from long experience on the lake.
Community work has also been part of Steve’s outdoor career. He has hosted the Casting for a Cure children’s fishing rodeo in support of the American Cancer Society. Across his guiding, reporting and public work, the consistent subject is the outdoors around Kentucky Lake. Visitors interested in a trip can contact him directly to discuss the target species, season, trip length and what current conditions may allow.
